NOTE:

You may need to restart your computer if your fonts aren't showing up in Flash, but show up in other programs, like Photoshop.
Flash

I'm using your fonts in Flash, but they're still blurry!

  1. Make sure the point size of the font is correct.

    • 9 pt. for Arachnid
    • 10 pt. for Five Dots, Six Dots, Ramona, Bylinear, Cellular, Genetica, Joystik, Megalon, Methodic, Microscopic, Noir, Quanta and Wired
    • 12 pt. for Everette, Harry, Atomic, Monocule, Remote and Scriptometer
    • 14 pt. for Bionika
    • 36 pt. for Biology, Kare Dingbats and MiniFood
    • 48 pt. for Sampler Light
    • 60 pt. for Genetrix
    • 72 pt. for Sampler
    • 100 pt. for Macroscopic

  2. Make sure you are viewing and exporting the Flash file at 100%.

    • It won't work otherwise.

  3. Make sure you position the text block on the stage in whole increments.

    • For left aligned text, click on the text block, and look at the Object Inspectors' x and y values. If there is a number after the ".", change that number to 0 (zero) and hit return. Do it for both the x and y values. If you are aligning text right, then there should be a "75" after the ".", i.e. 465.75 for the x/y values.

  4. You can't use it with Dynamic text in Flash 5.

    • There is a bug in Flash 5. Try using Flash 4 using Load URL instead (exporting as Flash 4 in Flash 5 won't work!).

The fonts show up in some applications, but not Flash!
or
I see your fonts in Flash, and when I try to export the file to SWF, it gives me an error!
  1. You must install the fonts correctly!:

    • On a Mac, take the CONTENTS of the folder and drop all the files LOOSE in the Fonts folder in your System Folder, or use Adobe Type Manager (4.6 needed for Mac OS 9 users) to add the fonts to your system.

    • For Windows, use ATM to add the fonts - in Windows, you CAN'T just drop them in your fonts folder! ATM Light is free at Adobe:
      http://www.adobe.com/products/atmlight/main.html

  2. If you are using the free versions of our fonts:

    • They only contain the letters A-Z and a-z and the space character. If you try to use other characters (numbers, punctuation and international characters) it will give you an "Outline not found" error. You should upgrade to the standard versions of the fonts.

  3. If you are using the standard versions of our fonts:

    • Make sure that you have installed the font correctly by putting all the files that came with the font in the Fonts folder in your System Folder (Mac) or used ATM to install the fonts (Windows or Mac). If the outline font is not present on your system when you export the file, it will give you this error.

I'm using your fonts in Flash 5 and using Dynamic Text and it's coming out blurry!

I really have to use Dynamic Text in Flash 5!

  • Set your quality to low in the html file, and it won't blur.

Your fonts are all "jaggy". What's wrong?!

  1. They are supposed to be "jaggy".

    • Most fonts at small sizes tend to get very blurry and unreadable. Our fonts shouldn't blur at all, so if you have some text you need very small, it will still be readable.

  2. Make sure you are viewing and exporting the PSD file at 100%.

  3. Turn anti-aliasing OFF, or Fractional Character Widths OFF in Photoshop 6

    • The method used to make the fonts work in Flash can sometimes blur a bit of the type in Photoshop (don't ask!) Just turn off anti-aliasing or fractional character widths, and your text will be nice and crisp.
